Simulation and optimization of a Carnot battery process including a heat pump/organic Rankine cycle with considering the role of the regenerator

Abstract The inherent nature of the renewable energies is to be intermittent. This leads negative effects on security and stability energy production system. A sensible solution eliminate or reduce integrate storage system with a source–based Carnot battery an emerging technology that allows storing electric at low cost no geographical restrictions. To this end, paper attempts provide comprehensive accurate assessment thermodynamic performances as well energetic exergetic analyzes considered battery. In regard, comprised organic Rankine cycle (ORC), vapor compression heat pump (VHP) pumped thermal (PTES) (to connect two ORC VHP sub-cycles). addition, in both charge discharge processes, regenerators are utilized recover waste improve performance main objectives article analysis, calculation degraded exergy efficiencies obtaining levelized (LCOS).
